RJIE 14: Okonomiyaki @ Okonomi House

Add caption
I always see this place at the Boggo Road Markets. They are two super enthusiastic Japanese guys who jump to your order and try and entice you with okonomiyaki aka JAPPPPP-AN-ESE PIZZZAAAHHHH. Its very theatrical when you place an order, because the head guy shouts it enthusiastically in Japanese, while the main cook replies also very enthusiastically, and begins quickly chopping and mixing the batter up.

I like bonito, it tastes like flakey tuna
The day I went I bought the pork belly and cheese okonomiyaki. I thought it would be an interesting mix and it was. It had a nice crunchy char and stretchy pieces of cheese melted all over the cabbage mixture. I found the batter to be very tasty and well seasoned, I'd have eaten the fried batter all on its own. I found the overuse of Japanese mayo and tonkatsu sauce a bit much though. Perhaps a little less, or allow the customer to drizzle as required? As a result of this, I've learnt how to make okonomiyaki and have eaten every second day for the last week at the time of writing.
