Brunswick Social

JGirl and I were headed off to see Ball Park Music live so we decided to grab dinner beforehand and ended up going to Brunswick Social for something Asian, light and with good ratings on Urbanspoon. If you're unfamiliar with the restaurant, I can't help you because I forgot to take a photo of the entrance for once. I recall that it was very clearly signed so that should help quite a bit.

Ick, bar lighting
There were a few ladies there that looked like they were there after work for post work drinks with that being said.

Weird little bar stools
Here is the menu! The ordering at this place is one of those tick and flick menus so its easy to order things and get your order 100% correct. We decided to pick four different dishes to share between the two of us. The first thing we got were pan fried pork gyozas, they had a thin, crunchy wrapper and a mildly gingery and pork flavoured mince filling that was quite moist. These were our favourite pick but we had to stingly split the third one in half to share it.

Decent
I got the prawn mushroom open top crystal dumping, I didn't really notice the enoki topping and I didn't really like the change to the traditional prawn dumpling. There was a large, firm prawn in the centre with some minced up prawn filling around it. JGirl didn't want to eat any of this because she dislikes prawns.

I've had better
JGirl really wanted steamed barbecue pork buns, these were a touch on the small side with some sweet char siu pieces in the middle. She ate them all by herself since I don't like the general sweetness of barbecue pork buns.

Fluffy though
We also got these fried pork dumplings, they had a super thick, doughy shell with a small ball of filling in the centre. We both avoided these and regretted choosing them.

Blergh

The Brunswick Social:
Atmosphere: 5, average bar setting nothing spectacular.
Service: 6, prompt and friendly, the waitress was very friendly.
Food: 5, well cooked but lacking. They were quite expensive for their serving size, the flavours weren't to either of our tastes and we left still feeling hungry. I wouldn't casually go here for a meal, but I know they do $1 Sunday dumplings so that's pretty good I suppose.
