RJIE 8: First meal of the year

I feel like there is some mystical weighting attached to what you are doing when midnight strikes and in the first few actions of the New Year's day. I don't understand why I feel like this, but I always want to be doing something interesting on that first day/last day. A few years ago, I spent my countdown laughing at yo' mama jokes with VGirl, playing games online by myself and last year I spent it with VGirl, JGirl, Shishi, Dr H, Yannikins, VGirlL and VBoyJ, at a dinner and followed by a bonfire where we burnt all our university study materials. This year we did the same thing, big dinner, board games, bonfire and sleep.

This year I thought I had work in the morning, so after a big barbecue dinner of pork sausages, beef sausages, marinated lamb, honey garlic and soy wings, Vietnamese marinated drumsticks, crumbed pork cutlets, potato and carrot Japanese curry, vegetarian sausages, two large salad platters of red capsicum, iceberg lettuce, cucumber, purple salad onion, tomato, Vietnamese roasted pork belly, potato salad, pasta salad and two loaves of bread. Dessert was cherries, lychees, red dragon fruit, gourmet cookies and cream ice cream and weird Italian biscuits I found. I made nearly all of that myself, cooking/prepping, with the exception of the Vietnamese stuff which my dad did. We had one round of Pictionary and I retired to bed. Apparently they played Articulate without me, but its probably for the best since I win pretty intensely at that game.

Great start to the year?
I woke up at 5am ready for the Sunday train service to work and had this for breakfast. Its a solid bowl full of Carmen's Classic Fruit muesli with a banana and soy milk with extra raisins and sweetened coconut chips added for texture. It wasn't too bad but I hate banana and soy milk and was doing it for weight loss, I did lose about 2kg at my dad's house over Christmas but gained it back rapidly when my mum came back.

Anyway, long story short, I watched a drunken brawl at my train station, posted a Facebook status about having to go to work and was told by a friend at work on the night shift that I didn't need to go. So instead I went back home, slept for another four hours and then went to city with friends and visited my Boyfriend. It could've been worse, but not a bad way to spend my first day of the New Year huh?
