Chur Burger

This review has been a long time in coming, I actually went to Chur Burger in the first month that it opened and haven't bothered reviewing it since then. It was during the dark days of my gym addiction, so I'm struggling to remember. I'll do what I can and if that's no good, you can just look at the pretty pictures I guess.

Its a one way street but look out for this sign!
There is a lot of seating both inside and outside to take your pick from!

Very high school?
This is their front counter/bar!

White brick!
This is what the rest of their dining room looks like, a mix of high chairs and tables, cushioned tables and round metal bin chairs? They look like they're made out of steel with a top of spotted cushion. Odd looking chairs.

Lots of different table arrangements!
There is also a fair few window seats that allow you to people watch the BMW dealership across the road!

Rich people are weird
I really enjoyed the layout of this restaurant, there were lots of details to catch the eye.

Interesting ceiling
We sat at this lovely looking table, that is until I went to touch the writing and found out that there wasn't a laminated top or anything! You can touch the furrows of the writing! I instantly felt the rest of the table and found that despite having been opened for less than a week, the tabletop was quite sticky! I wonder if they've changed it since then but I found that quite a displeasing factor when we went there.

Sticky ):
A*'s boyfriend Mr D.,' ordered the vanilla bean milkshake and said it was absolutely delicious.

The old fashioned steel cups is a lovely touch
A.,' ordered the pomegranate soda, a shot of their housemade pomegranate syrup topped with soda water. She said it was very refreshing and delicious.

I love the colour
This was the wings that I got as a starter, they were the barbecue chicken wings with blue cheese dressing on the side. Since I was first here, they've changed their wings a few times. The wings were cool when I received them! That was a bit disappointing but the flavour was otherwise delicious, quite sweet and smokey flavoured, I licked the sauce off my fingers they were so good.

WINGS
A close up <3
Everyone at the table ordered the sweet potato chips with lime and garlic salt except me, I got the regular potato fries with chili salt. The sweet potato chips were universally acclaimed, large, thick cut, super crunchy outsides with soft, sweet potato centres. Sweet potato chips are hard to get right and these were so damn good. My fries were okay, they had a noticeable mild spice to them but weren't anything special like those sweet potato cbips

Winner on the right
I ordered the crispy pork belly burger with chili caramel, slaw and aioli. I found there to be no crispy part to my pork belly, in fact, I found that the crackling part was quite chewy. The pork belly was perfectly cooked otherwise, those layers of unctuous, creamy fat melted in the mouth. I found the caramel to be too sweet and would've preferred a stronger chili flavour. Ms L., had a taste of my burger and said it was absolutely heavenly but I strongly disagreed.

Pork belly!
L., Mr A., and A*., both ordered the lamb burger, a thick patty of lamb mince, mint sauce, feta, red onion and aioli. The piece of A*.,'s burger was succulent and juicy, the mint wasn't overpowering and the feta was a nice salty hit against the patty and sweetness of the mint. Classic lamb flavours that worked well together!

Pretty pretty
This was Mr D.,'s double cheeseburger, it came with pickles and a tomato jam to boot. I think he said that the burger was very tasty and wolfed it down in seconds.

I'm sad that I can't see the second patty
Ms L., ordered the pull pork burger after much deliberation between the pulled pork and the pork belly. Pulled pork has got to be one of the most disgusting looking things you can order, but undoubtedly one of the most delicious. I had a bite and wanted it more than my burger, in fact, we probably could've easily swapped our burgers since we fancied each others meals so much.

Messy thing
Mr A., ordered the eggplant san choy bao, which came with a mess of shredded cucumber, carrot, fluffy endive leaves and lots of feathery dill. It was a bit hard to wrap up bu the flavours were absolutely amazing and I'd have happily eaten that entire plate over my burger. I've had san choy baos made of meat that weren't as good as that vegetarian one.

Dill is my favourite herb omg

Chur Burger

Atmosphere: 7, a lovely little restaurant! I love the big open window at the front and the different arrangements of tables. I found there was always something to occupy my eye when we were waiting for our meals to arrive.
Service: 5, pretty standard from memory.
Food: 6.5, burgers aren't bad, they have interesting flavour combinations and are pretty cheap. The sweet potato chips are definitely a winner that's for sure! But Ben's Burgers still wins my heart.
