Main St Bar & Eatery Story Bridge Hotel

Oh man, this is right from the time that I started going to the gym and calorie counting. You can tell that this was a long, long time ago because the menus are from Oktoberfest! This was a sorta impromptu post work meal as it was almost time for T.,'s birthday so Ms D., W., Mr A., and myself all came along to celebrate! We tried going to Summerhouse initially but found it was closed that day, so off we went to the Story Bridge Hotel!

Here was their menu at the time!

The bar area is what you'd expect of any nice Aussie pub!

There's another separate restaurant a little bit away from the main bar area that has its own menu and specials.

Hmm~
This was T.,'s meal of the chicken and mushroom pie with chips and a small side salad. She said it was all delicious and especially like the buttery flavour of the pie crust.

Pretty as a picture
Mr A., went after the huge pork knuckle without a second thought, there were blanched green beans, creamed potatos, pickled red cabbage, German mustard and a cream sauce to go along with the pork knuckle. It honestly looks like a meal you could comfortably split between two or even three people due to the sheer size of the pork knuckle. He said the crackling was pretty good but he had had better pork knuckles in Germany when he traveled there.

Glorious
W., got himself a porterhouse steak, served medium rare with mushroom sauce, chips and a side of coleslaw. He said that the steak was good quality and served perfectly medium rare, the sauce was also pretty good.

He took a slice out of it before I got my photo
I got the Jaeger veal schnitzel with mushroom sauce, coleslaw and a side of chips. I hate how places put sauce on top of crunchy things, it ruins the crunch! I found the veal schnitzel to be pretty tough and dry, if anything, even more sauce would've been handy to add some flavour to it. It was a pretty dish but I was disappointed by it.

Pretty though
Ms D., got the bratwurst roll with red cabbage, sauerkraut and fries. She was very happy eating this and I was quite envious as this was my back up option.

Nice
Mr A., and I also got chicken wings to share, these were super crunchy and covered in a mildly spicy Sriracha and lime sauce that tasted a lot like sweet chili for whatever reason. There was also a side of ranch sauce to go with it. We both thought the wings were quite good despite the odd flavour.

Wings!

Atmosphere: 5, Aussie pub at its finest!
Service: 5, pretty average. We had some issues with glasses not being completely clean when we got them and had to send back a glass three times before we got a clean one. That being said, this balanced out with out quickly we got our meals and how promptly they cleared away our dishes.
Food: 6, huge portions at a reasonable price, not bad for pub food!
