RJIE: New Shanghai again!
I got mad at A*., for suggesting we go here with Mr A., and his boyfriend because I've been to New Shanghai like four times, and while I love it, we could have gone somewhere else! It was probably the worst get together every, A*., got there an hour early to get us a table. Meanwhile Mr A., and I both were over an hour late, I couldn't get into the city to get to my prebooked Secure Parking park, while Mr A., couldn't find a park for the life of him. I ended up parking in Turbot Street on top of Spring Hill and legging it into the city, while Mr A., got parking at Secure Parking's Macarthur Square.
Here is my mango and coconut frappe. Delicious!

Always delicious |
The pork xiao long bao! As always they were delicious, although I feel like this lot didn't have as many pleats as they usually do. It was great fun teaching Mr A.,'s boyfriend how to eat these.

More pleats please |
|
Nibble, slurp, eat! |
As always, I demanded that we have the pork and shepherd's purse wonton in peanut sauce, cucumber and chili oil. This is one of my all time favourite dumpling dishes, and I'll have angry words with anyone who disagrees with me.
|
So freaking good |
We got a massive row of pan fried gyoza that were snapped up before I remembered to even take a photo! They had the most gloriously pan fried bottoms and a good chunk of pork filling in the centre.
|
Imagine like 10 of these |
This is the rainbow beef, hand shredded beef pieces that have been deep fried and coated in a sweet and sour sauce. Its basically sweet and sour beef, but oh my god its delicious. I don't think its very authentic but its delicious, I cannot emphasise that enough.
|
Yum! |
We also got these zha jiang mian noodles, a Beijing style spicy minced pork, cucumber and noodle dish that is served like this and tossed at the table. It had a noticeable spiciness but wasn't unbearable.
