Suburban Cafe - Greenslopes
Another post night shift breakfast! We really wanted to go to Cafe Groovy for breakfast but we found out when we got there that they're only open for breakfast on the weekends, so we had to find another alternative. To Surburban Cafe! The one in Stone's Corner not the West End one.
It's along the Logan road strip. Snag a 2P park if you're lucky or park behind in the Aldi car park.
Below is their menu at the time we went. It's completely changed since then so I wouldn't bother looking at the menu. I just have it for my own posterity.

The menu! |
I went with Big V., and another girl who has since left my work. We're not really friends, she insisted on getting the same dish as me, I wasn't happy.
Speaking of not happy, the presumed manager of the shop, a cranky older lady proceeded to absolutely destroy her younger staff member in the middle of the shop. Apparently she wasn't smiling enough, not inviting enough or enticing anyone in in the right way.
I got the croque madame with fresh fried gooey egg! You're all like, but ThatSeriousGirl why would you get a French hipster cheese toastie for breakfast? Well this one had dijon mustard, smoked ham hock, bechamel sauce, swiss cheese and a fried egg! So yeah, it was a fancy cheese toastie and it was great. It had charry grill marks on the bread, the bread was still fluffy on the inside but oh so crunchy on the outside. The cheesey bechamel sauce just lifted up the Swiss cheese and made it uber cheesy. It can always be more cheesy of course, but this was pretty good anyway. Ham was ham.

Big V., got the haloumi and chorizo stack it came out with a very hard chunk of sourdough, finely chopped tomato, smashed avocado, pan fried haloumi, chorizo slices and dots of basil pesto. I think they were going with a kinda bruschetta look with how they presented the tomato. She said that she didn't enjoy the chorizo but I honestly cannot remember why she said this as it was almost six months ago.

Looks good! |
My only complaint besides the fact that the girl from work ordered the same thing as me, was that the manager of the place, an older lady, was very loudly berating her staff member in the middle of the cafe. She was saying things like the other girl wasn't welcoming enough, friendly enough, forgetting to set out water etc. I feel like its pretty unprofessional to start addressing issues like this in public where other people can see and hear you, let alone how mortifying it would be to be spoken to like this. If you're going to criticise your staff, pick a better time and place besides in the middle of breakfast while customers are eating. This all coming from a woman who proceeded to ignore us where we attempted to pay our bill at the register.
Suburban Cafe - Greenslopes
Atmosphere: 5, nothing flash. Very quiet compared to the other bustling breakfast joints nearby.
Service: 8, solid from the young girl who served us. 3 from the manager.
Food: 6, I probably wouldn't go back here based on the service received. The food was okay but there are better options in the nearby area.
