RJIE 4: Eggs Montreal @ Cafe Wrapture

Hahaha! RJIE is once again Cafe Wrapture! I think this is my version of McDonalds, if I can't think anywhere else to go to in West End, I know I'll always be happy at Cafe Wrapture. They change their menu constantly! I went here with J and the Boyfriend after a night shift one morning.

Eggs Montreal!
I got the Eggs Montreal! That's basically an Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon instead of the ham or bacon. For those of you who still have no idea what I'm talking about, Eggs Benedict is a very rich breakfast dish of English muffin, hollandaise sauce, poached eggs and a side of ham or bacon. Eggs Florentine is the same with spinach, Huevos Benedict has chorizo instead of ham and salsa.

I was Googling why this was called Eggs Montreal and that's apparently the Aussie/NZ name of this dish. Apparently, in the US or Canada, they would call this Eggs Atlanta or Eggs Hemingway. I've been to a few places in Brisbane that actually include maple syrup bacon or ham in their Eggs Montreal, what else says Canadian like maple syrup bacon!

I wish I had a photo of someone super Canadian, but the best one is from my Canadian friend's FB of her celebrating Canada Day here in Australia. Its amazing.
Joking aside, this was delicious. The hollandaise sauce was rich, creamy, had a bit of sour note from the lemon used and nicely balanced all around. The poached eggs were nice and tight, no gross whispy bits trailing everywhere and no noticeable vinegar tang from the poaching liquid. They were still all gooey in the middle, the yolks were bright orange too, the deliciousness of free ranged eggs! I didn't take a photo, I was too busy eating it :). The bread was very chewy though, not sure if I liked it, and I always like my crunchy stuff elsewhere, I thought it got a bit soggy with the rest of the ingredients on top. No comment about the smoked salmon, I love it too much to every criticise it.

Veggo big brekkie!
J., ordered the vegetarian big breakfast! Poached eggs, house made tomato chutney, wilted spinach,  mushrooms, haloumi and something else I can't see, it looks sorta crunchy, maybe its a potato or something. She didn't eat her bread because she's a coeliac ):, so I ate it :). The chutney was super tasty, sweet, sour and I kept stealing it. I don't care for Wrapture's haloumi, its always so crunchy, I like mine chewy and squeaky.

He ordered his usual haloumi wrap, so I didn't bother taking a photo.
